Not Just a Discovery Flight. Your Flight Training Journey Starts Here.

MEET THE FOUNDER & cFI

Hey, I'm Max!

At FlightTeachers, your first flight isn’t just a joyride around the block.

It’s a fully guided experience into the world of aviation, where you’re treated like a pilot, not a passenger.

Take off into the sky, this is a hands-on, in-depth introduction to becoming a pilot, and what a flight lesson with us actually feels like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Flight Teachers Isn’t Just Another “Discovery Flight”

When most people book a discovery flight, they expect a quick buzz around the local area, maybe a selfie in the cockpit, and a story to tell at dinner. It’s fun, but let’s be honest, it’s not flying. It’s not learning. And it’s definitely not enough to decide if aviation is for you.

At FlightTeachers, we’ve reimagined the first flight experience to reflect what it actually feels like to train as a pilot. From the moment you arrive, we treat you like one of our students, not just a customer.

You’ll get a full tour of the flight school, hangars, and aircraft so you understand the world you’re stepping into. You'll meet your instructor for a relaxed, personal briefing, followed by a hands-on pre-flight walkaround of your aircraft, just like a real pilot would. We take our time, because this isn’t a “quick thrill.” It’s the beginning of your aviation journey.

And once you’re in the air, you’ll actually fly. Not just “hold the controls for a bit.” You'll understand what’s happening, follow through on the controls, and take the lead when you’re ready, with the confidence built from everything you’ve learned on the ground.

We created this experience because we know that the decision to become a pilot isn’t made from the back seat. It’s made from the left seat, when you feel what it’s really like to fly. It’s not about the lowest price. It’s about the right start.

Because flying isn’t just a hobby. For many, it becomes a lifestyle, a career, and a lifelong passion. We want your first step into that world to be unforgettable, for all the right reasons.

How Much Does a First Flight Cost?

We'll need a $100 Deposit to reserve your day and time, with the remaining $275 due on the day of the flight.

Are there age Limits?

There’s no minimum age to take flight lessons with an instructor in a dual-controlled aircraft.

However, we recommend not starting until 14 years old, depending on the student’s size and maturity.

You can begin learning the basics and even log flight time toward a future license.

What’s the minimum age to get a pilot license in the U.S.?

  • Student Pilot Certificate age 16 (14 for gliders and balloons)

  • Private Pilot License (PPL) - age 17

  • Recreational Pilot License - age 17

  • Commercial Pilot License - age 18

  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) age 18

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) age 23 (21 with Restricted ATP)

Is there a maximum age limit to fly? No. There is no upper age limit to fly as a Private or Recreational Pilot. However, commercial airline pilots must retire by age 65, according to current FAA rules.

Can older adults learn to fly? Absolutely!

Many people begin flight training in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. As long as you can pass the required medical exam, it’s never too late to start flying.

What type of Aircraft will I fly?

Flighteachers use a well-maintained Cessna C172 aircraft, perfectly suited to flying training or for general hire.

What the process to get my PPL (Private Pilot Licence)?

The Private Pilot certificate, often referred to as the Private Pilot License (PPL), is your first goal as a pilot. Everyone starts here, regardless of your long-term flying goals. The PPL provides foundational knowledge and skills for all future aircraft pilot training. As a Private Pilot, you can fly an airplane day and night in visual flight conditions (VFR). You can carry passengers (not for hire), such as friends and family, and fly for leisure and personal purposes. With the PPL you’ll learn how to safely operate the aircraft, interpret weather reports, understand FAA regulations, and much more!

To be eligible to pursue your Private Pilot License, you must meet certain requirements, such as:

Be at least 16 years old to fly solo.

Be at least 17 years old to receive your private pilot certificate.

Read, speak, write, and understand English.

Obtain an FAA medical certificate.

Perform basic math: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

The FAA requires a baseline minimum of 40 hours of flight before asking to be examined for the PPL. In the USA, the national average is 65 hours of flight to be exam ready, which is a more realistic number to budget on.

Prerequisites for Private Pilot Training

  • Must be at least 17 years old by the time of the final checkride.

  • Obtain at least a third-class medical certificate from an FAA-authorized aviation medical examiner.

  • Language Proficiency - Have the ability to read, speak, write, and understand English, as it's the international language of aviation.

  • Basic Knowledge - While not mandatory, having foundational knowledge of aviation through self-study, online courses, or preliminary Ground School can be beneficial.

  • Commitment - A genuine interest in aviation and a commitment to the training duration and requirements.

  • Documentation - Valid identification, such as a passport or driver's license, to verify identity and age.
